Subject: Tutorial~
I haven’t did a tutorial in a long time which is a epic fail in great proportions.I mean the bases of the company is to solve problems, technology problems that is.So as promise I will at least 3 times a week to a tutorial.Ive gotten tons of email from my Followers explaining an easy way to install hard drives in laptops.
Well it all depends on the make up of your laptop, every laptop is built differently in design so accessing the hard drive is not the same.It seems to me newer laptops of 2010 or maybe a year or two later accessing hard drives are very simple.Today we are going to look at installing hard drives on a more up to date laptop, circa 2009-2010.
The extractions~
If you are upgrading to a new hard drive with a higher capacity or want to replace a failing drive the process is fairly simple.Depending on the laptops model turn the laptop over and look for a imprint on the bottom of the laptop where it say HDD.On some laptop you would actually see a hard drive emblem. There should be four screws the holds the panel, simply unscrew the screws with a phillips screw driver and carefully lift the panel off.
Once your done, there should be a thin metal plate that encases the hard drive.Remember the hard drive should be SATA II 2.5 inch drive. The beauty about replacing laptop hard drives is there is no cables to contend with.Once the metal plate is removed carefully pull the drive from the socket.
The Installation~
Take your new hard drive and carefully slide it into the socket, remember your hard drive should be a standard 2.5 inch SATA II hard drive which are made specifically for laptops.Put the metal plate back on screw in the screws carefully and place the panel cover back over the drive. Now you ready to format your new drive and load your Operating system. Now in some cases some model laptops you can slide the hard drive from the side. Just pop open the panel and pull the hard drive out.
Tools you need~
Phillips head screwdriver and have a small plastic cup to house your screws.
Brief reminder, always power down and unplug your laptop, and take out your battery. And always ground yourself before you dive into your computer.
